Our Two Colours: Red and Blue
Every FNE group is free to choose a set of colours for their scarves - for the Four Arrows Group, a selection consisting of red with a blue trim was chosen.
When a scarf is unfolded, the red colour covers up around 90% of the scarf's surface while the blue portion makes up about 10% of the remaining area. This is to symbolize the blood and water that was poured from Jesus' body when he was crucified. Similarly, the consecration of the wine with water during the Liturgy of the Eucharist is also represented by the small amount of blue (water) relative to the larger red (wine). From a nature perspective, it represents the setting of the sun over a glimmering lake at the end of a summer day.
